Tutor, Senior

Position

Under the direction of the department supervisor, provide academic tutoring services to a variety of individuals and groups; create and implement tutorial programs that guide and assist students with homework, problem solving, report writing and test preparation; provide proactive and ongoing student retention services to students needing assistance.

• Provide academic tutoring at an advanced level to a variety of individuals and groups.
• Create and implement tutorial programs that guide and assist students.
• Provide proactive and ongoing student retention services to students needing assistance.
• Conduct supplemental instruction sessions.
• Coordinate and schedule the activities of assigned personnel and oversee the completion of tasks.
• Evaluate student needs and develop appropriate course of action.
• Administer tests and consult with educational departments and instructors.
• Draft materials and handouts to be used within an assigned instructional session.
• Maintain records and data to monitor and assess students’ progress.
• Provide clerical support to staff as needed.

• Knowledge of a variety of academic or vocational subject areas; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; basic arithmetic; general needs and behavior of students of various ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds; instructional methods and techniques.
• Ability to provide tutoring at an advanced level; conduct supplemental instruction sessions and oversee the activities and tasks of assigned personnel.
• Completion of the twelfth grade in addition to a minimum of a 3.0 GPA with the assigned educational specialty area.
• Increasingly responsible tutoring experience and advanced subject matter expertise in a variety of subject areas.

Candidate must complete the following prior to employment:
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam; have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer (clearance required); present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
