Summary
The purpose of this position is to lead the 504 process at all buildings for the 26-27 school year. The 504 coordinator will handle all aspects of the 504 process as well as supporting counselors with duties related to the 504 process. The 504 coordinator will work closely with general education staff, administration and families to ensure students are receiving a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the 504 process
- Conduct parent meetings to determine needs of the students
- Manage the 504 process (referral to placement and programming)
- Facilitate meetings and activities that achieve district goals
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines
- Stay abreast of current laws, policies, and procedures regarding 504's
- Build relationships with administration, teachers and families to ensure a positive work environment
- Assist other personnel as may be required in the completion of their work activities
- Assist building teams in their review of data (medical reports, assessment data, state regulations) to provide best practice decisions for accommodations.
- Collaborate with district personnel to ensure 504 compliance
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials (quality reports, appropriate email correspondence, response to reports, etc)
- Be a resource for all educators related to students struggling in the general education setting
- Other duties assigned by the Administration
Supervise students at all times
Qualifications Education/Experience- Master's Degree in Education or a related field, preferred
- Missouri Teacher Certification
- Strong knowledge of 504 law and compliance
- Ability to problem-solve and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle information with the utmost confidentiality

Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly. Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use. Use district software for recording grades and finding student information. Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district

Conditions and EnvironmentThe individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
