The Yarmouth School Department is seeking highly skilled, experienced, passionate educational leaders to apply for the district-level position of Director of Instructional Support. Yarmouth Schools serve approximately 1700 students just outside of Portland, Maine and are consistently recognized for excellence in public K-12 education. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, innovative educational leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to build consensus and promote equity, an engaging personality, and a love of learning.
Maine certification as an Administrator of Special Education (030), a Master's degree in education, and a minimum of five years of educational leadership experience are required.

Responsibilities- Administer all special education programs, Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12, as mandated under the IDEA and Maine State Special Education Regulations.
- Administer Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Ensure compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.
- Implement the district's affirmative action policy.
- Assist the Director of Teaching & Learning in overseeing Multi-tiered Systems of Support processes.
- Facilitate PreK-12 student support team.
- File required special education reports.
- Apply for available grants in the areas of special education and other instructional support services.
- Assist the Superintendent in planning and administering the District Special Education Budget and other instructional support services areas.
- Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with other administrative personnel, teaching and non‑teaching staff, parents, and students.
- Provide professional development opportunities for special educators and other instructional support personnel through workshops, seminars, courses, professional readings, etc.
- Participate in personal professional growth and development through involvement with professional organizations, workshops, courses, professional readings, etc.
- Oversee, monitor and review out-of-district placements.
- Facilitate the work of both ad hoc and standing committees as assigned by the superintendent.
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools with respect to the responsibilities delineated in this job description and goals cooperatively established each year.
