The School Psychologist is responsible for completing comprehensive special education evaluations, including both initial evaluations and re-evaluations, in accordance with Minnesota state criteria and federal due process requirements. This position conducts formal assessments, analyzes educational and behavioral data, and prepares clear, compliant evaluation reports to determine eligibility and educational need. The School Psychologist communicates consistently and effectively with families throughout the evaluation process, ensuring understanding of procedures, results, and next steps.
The School Psychologist ensures all evaluations are completed accurately and within required timelines while maintaining high standards of professionalism, compliance, and student-centered practice.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with child find requirements related to the implementation of scientific research-based interventions.
- Facilitate the child find process by assisting to respond to referrals for initial special education evaluations for students suspected of having disabilities.
- Coordinate the reevaluation process for students receiving special education and related services.
- Administer and interpret intellectual ability tests, social behavior assessments, academic assessments and adaptive assessments as part of comprehensive evaluations for current and potential students in need of special services.
- Our district employs dedicated due process clerks who support evaluation timelines, documentation compliance, and procedural requirements.
- Complete functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), when deemed appropriate by the student team.
- Assist in the development of behavior support plans (BSPs), in collaboration with special education staff.
- It is a secondary position working with grades 6-12.
- MN Teaching Licensure in School Psychology or ability to obtain licensure.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects independently.
- A passion and willingness to learn and help others learn.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
