QualificationsCertification as required by the State of Illinois or School Service Personnel Certificate (Type 73) with School Psychology.

Performance Responsibilities- Conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status.
- Utilizing formal as well as informal data collection techniques.
- Interpreting and utilizing assessment data for the purpose of writing psychological reports and developing written intervention plans.
- Providing direct services such as individual or group counseling sessions.
- Providing crisis intervention.
- Providing social skills training and behavior management.
- Conducting functional analyses to help understand underlying reasons for behavior and developing behavioral plans.
- Identifying potential learning difficulties.
- Assessing environmental factors which may influence learning.
- Participating on school teams to assist in problem solving and program planning.
- Providing case management support for students eligible for a 504 plan.
- Serving in the role of local education agency (LEA) for special education meetings.
- Assisting parents in locating educational and mental health resources.
- Consulting with parents regarding psycho-educational, social or behavioral information.
- Assisting parents in developing home interventions.
- Offering information workshops on a variety of topics.
- Providing consultation in planning and implementing appropriate classroom management strategies and other learning and behavioral interventions, including strategies to support students with specialized learning needs (e.g., 504s, IEPs, individual learning plans, etc.).
- Assisting in adapting/modifying the curriculum to meet the varying rates, patterns and needs of all students.
- Collaborating on effective interventions to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Providing professional development sessions on specific topics of interest.
- Facilitating positive communication amongst all partners in the program planning process.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of academic programs, and behavioral management systems.
- Supervising psychology interns or school psychology practicum students.
