QUALIFICATIONS
- License: Required – Illinois Professional Educator License (Elementary Grades) with either Reading Specialist or Reading Teacher endorsement
- Education: Required – Master’s Degree in Reading
- Experience: Required – Minimum of 3 to 5 years successful teaching experience
- Preferred: Minimum of 3 to 5 years successful reading teaching experience in an elementary school setting; fluency in Spanish
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State StandardsUses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the studentsAdheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff handbookContributes and models a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) programOrders materials and supplies as per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraintsWorks cooperatively with other staff members in planning professional development opportunitiesCollaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needsMaintains control of storage and use of school-owned property; keeps supplies in good working condition, is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipmentCollaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventionsPresent curriculum and uses a variety of assessment tools that support district and Common Core State StandardsAdapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interestsUtilizes RtI to assist in reviewing data, determining academic needs, setting appropriate goals and implementing interventions for studentsEstablishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, productive environmentWorks collaboratively with classroom teachers, administration and families to improve academic performanceWorks with classroom teachers to carry out the philosophy of the adopted Tier I language arts curriculumMonitors placement of all supplemental reading materialsAssists teachers in use of all components of the language arts curriculumAssists with parent conferences if requestedSupports guest teachers in providing quality reading instructionConducts district workshops on reading developmentDemonstrates and instructs new reading materials, methods/strategies for teachers and studentsMaintains reading materials inventory and assist the Teaching and Learning Department in ordering reading materialsAssists in evaluating the language arts curriculum (Tier1, Tier 2, Tier
3)Works directly or indirectly with students and progress monitors within the RtI frameworkAssumes other reading program tasks as they ariseParticipates in Problem Solving / Intervention Team meetings on an as needed basisMaintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and gradesUses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progressGathers and maintains up-to-date records of student grades and assessment data to assist in the placement of studentsAdministers state and local standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of needAttends and participates in team, department,…
