Qualifications
  • Illinois Teaching Certificate – Type 03 or 10 with Library Information Specialist or Media Endorsement (K‑5)
  • Illinois Teaching Certificate – Type 03, 09, or 10 for Middle School with Middle School Endorsement
  • Library Information Specialist or Media Endorsement
Performance Responsibilities
  • Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI)
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students
  • Adheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook
  • Contributes to a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program
  • Orders materials and supplies as per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraints
  • Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and at the times assigned
  • Maintains control of storage and use of school‑owned property; keeps supplies in good working condition, is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment
  • Collaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly productive environment
  • Oversees media center assistants and provides direction as needed
  • Plans, directs, implements and evaluates the library program
  • Assists students in becoming effective and discriminating users of library resources
  • Organizes library material, equipment, and facilities for effective and efficient utilization and circulation of print and electronic resources
  • Keeps the collection current within the constraints of the annual budget by purchasing quality print and non‑print materials
  • Through a working knowledge of books and authors in the collection, assists students with reading selections
  • Effectively utilizes clerical, volunteer, student and/or other personnel to provide quality library service to users
  • Assists students and teachers in locating and using information resources
  • Actively plans with teachers and groups or teachers to integrate library services and multimedia materials with the instructional program
  • Promotes reading for enjoyment and personal growth
  • Provides equitable access to resources and information for both students and staff
  • Follows and models established policies, laws, (including copyright laws), principles of intellectual freedom, and ethical behavior
  • Communicates the Learning Resource Center's (LRC) role in teaching and learning to the school community
  • Provides professional development opportunities for staff
  • Prepares and oversees the LRC's media program budget that reflects the priorities of the entire school community
  • Maintains an accurate catalog to facilitate access to the LRC's resources and conducts an inventory on a regular basis
  • Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development
  • Maintains attractive and inviting physical and online spaces that promote participatory learning experiences and intellectual growth
  • Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality
  • Performs other such duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the School Principal or Assistant Principal
