- Term of Employment:
July 9, 2026 – August 19, 2026; work hours TBD by location. Pre-and post-summer training and set-up required. - Mandatory Summer Set‑Up Meetings:
June 2 – Transition/Employment;
June 3 – O'Connor Academy, eStart, Creekside (BPA Unit + TES Staff);
June 10 – Creekside (BUP Unit), Bird/Morgan - Salary Range: 2026‑27 rate for current Monroe One Boces staff.
- Civil Service eligibility for Teacher Aide/Para educator required:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus one of the following:- A. One (1) year of full‑time or part‑time paid or volunteer experience working in a clerical capacity.
- B. One (1) year of full‑time or part‑time paid or volunteer experience working with children.
- C. Possession of a certificate of completion of a course in Child Care through an occupational school, the American Red Cross or similar agency.
- D. A combination of experience as defined in (A), (B), and (C) above.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and present professional development around Para educator job responsibilities.
- Training in Crisis Prevention Strategies (e.g., TCI, SCIP).
- Experience working with children with intense emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities.
- Experience working with elementary and secondary students.
- Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation), including, but not limited to:
- Supporting/transporting students in wheelchairs and/or providing assistance with transfer, ambulation and positioning.
- Walking with, or running after students in multiple settings such as community based activities, nature walks and buildings.
- Lifting and moving students as required in many programs.
- Applicants must commit to working the full 30‑day Summer Program.
- Mandatory attendance at ESY orientation.
