Term of Employment:
July 9, 2026 – August 19, 2026; work hours TBD by location. Pre-and post-summer training and set-up required.
Mandatory Summer Set‑Up Meetings:
June 2 – Transition/Employment;
June 3 – O'Connor Academy, eStart, Creekside (BPA Unit + TES Staff);
June 10 – Creekside (BUP Unit), Bird/Morgan
Salary Range: 2026‑27 rate for current Monroe One Boces staff.

Duties

Facilitate Para educator meetings and training in cooperation with Administrator.

Provide support to all Para educator staff through positive problem‑solving strategies and professionalism.

Assist with orientation, training, mentoring and evaluation of new Paraeducators.

May assist with the recruitment of new Paraeducators.

Instruct and mentor new Paraeducators.

Instruct and mentor existing Paraeducators in new assignments.

Attend faculty meetings, staffing and after‑school events as necessary.

Assist with filling staff absences if necessary.

Assist with parent, staff and student activities.

Review and update staff handbook.

Work collaboratively with other Master Paraeducators.

Other duties as determined by Administrator.

Qualifications

Civil Service eligibility for Teacher Aide/Para educator required:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus one of the following:
- A. One (1) year of full‑time or part‑time paid or volunteer experience working in a clerical capacity.
- B. One (1) year of full‑time or part‑time paid or volunteer experience working with children.
- C. Possession of a certificate of completion of a course in Child Care through an occupational school, the American Red Cross or similar agency.
- D. A combination of experience as defined in (A), (B), and (C) above.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to plan and present professional development around Para educator job responsibilities.
Training in Crisis Prevention Strategies (e.g., TCI, SCIP).
Experience working with children with intense emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities.
Experience working with elementary and secondary students.
Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation), including, but not limited to:
- Supporting/transporting students in wheelchairs and/or providing assistance with transfer, ambulation and positioning.
- Walking with, or running after students in multiple settings such as community based activities, nature walks and buildings.
- Lifting and moving students as required in many programs.
Applicants must commit to working the full 30‑day Summer Program.
Mandatory attendance at ESY orientation.
