SalaryHourly rate will be equivalent to teachers hourly rate paid in MCSD School Year.
Education and/or ExperienceMinimum requirement – Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four year accredited college or university.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsEligible or already in possession of a Colorado Teaching License/certificate endorsed in the area of assignment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with planning the summer school program, and develop schedules and classes to meet the needs, interests and abilities of students enrolled in summer school.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals—establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ instructional methods and materials (including field trips) that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
- Counsel with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintain order in a fair and just manner.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aides and/or volunteers; cooperatively with the principal evaluate their job performance.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training programs and serve on staff committees as required.
- Maintain records and make reports as required and directed by the administration.
- Supervisory responsibilities:
supervise additional summer school teachers as requested, and supervise students, parents and volunteers. - Other duties may be assigned.

Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
