Grand Island Public Schools has an ongoing need for Substitute Teachers. Substitute teachers need a substitute certificate from the Nebraska Department of Education.

Wage for substitutes with a Nebraska Teaching Certificate, a State Substitute Certificate or a Local Substitute certificate is $193.44 per 8‑hour day. Wage for retired teachers is $208.56 per 8‑hour day. Long‑term pay (10 days or more in the same position) is $227.52 per 8‑hour day and $266.96 per 8‑hour day for retired teacher substitutes.

There is an incentive of $182.03 when a substitute works 85% of available days per pay period. Substitutes will also be awarded $1,112.27 annually for working 125 days or more.
