As a Special Education Resource Classroom Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with learning and emotional disabilities. You will provide specialized designed instruction and support to help students with disabilities access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve academic success.
Essential Functions- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with learning disabilities.
- Provide targeted instruction to address academic and behavioral needs, adapting teaching strategies to individual learning styles.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure the inclusion and success of students with learning disabilities in the mainstream classroom.
- Organize, plan, and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
- Utilize available resources effectively to support student learning and success.
- Advocate for and coordinate resources that remove barriers to learning for students with basic learning disabilities.
- Collect and analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and adapt teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of interventions and adjust as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in special education practices and research.
- Engage in continuous professional learning to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in the course.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the broader community to enhance student success.
- Provide guidance and support to families in understanding and navigating the special education process.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, teaching certification is required. Master’s Degree (MA) preferred.
- Proven experience in teaching high school special education.
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
- Valid Arizona Teaching certificate
- Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination
- Valid I-9 form
- AZ Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
