Responsibilities- In the absence of an assigned classroom teacher, the substitute teacher or cadre assumes and performs the duties of the classroom teacher, and is usually paid on an hourly or daily basis.
- Monitor the activities of students while maintaining a clean, safe and educational environment.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Implement effective classroom management practices.
- Supervise students in and out-of-classroom activities during the working day, as assigned.
- Maintain and establish effective rapport with students, staff and parents.
- Possess good communication skills and time management skills.
- Implement the course of study adopted by the Board of Education in the areas of language arts (reading, writing, listening, speaking & English), social studies, mathematics, science, art, health and other appropriate learning activities, unless other instructions have been given.
- Administer and follow lesson plans that have been prepared by the classroom teacher.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences that will best use the time available for instruction.
- Demonstrate competence in classroom instruction.
- Follow class schedule for instructional purposes as well as transitions, specials, lunch, etc.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal or designee.
Bachelor’s degree and Professional Educator License for substitute teaching positions.
Salary RangeSalary will be regionally competitive and based upon experience.
