JOB DESCRIPTION
- POSITION: Aide – Instructional Support
- STATUS: Hourly Employee
- WAGE: Set annually by the Board of Directors
- BENEFITS: Set annually by the Board of Directors
- WORK YEAR: Student school year plus approved professional development days –Daily work hours defined by positional need. Hours not to exceed 28.75 hours per week.
- SUPERVISOR: Building Principal/Director of Special Education

An instructional support assistant serves as a support person under the direction of a certified teacher. He/she must assume responsibility for working with identified students both in a one to one or small group setting. The assistant must be able to work in a variety of instructional settings supplementing the regular and/or specially developed instructional program. The assistant should be aware of current best practices and/or be willing to accept training appropriate to the instructional program.
SPECIFICDUTIES:
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing the instructional program
- Assist the teacher in routine functions involved with the daily management of the classroom
- Assist students with the learning process as prescribed by instructional staff and/or the students’ IEP and/or 504 plan
- Help adapt or modify instructional material to meet the student needs
- Reinforce development of skills in a variety of instructional settings as prescribed by the teacher
- Provide academic support to assigned students
- Follow district policy with regard to total school responsibilities or assignments
- Participate in assessing students as directed
- Participate in IEP meetings as requested by the administration
- Assume job related duties assigned by the teacher or administrator
