Summary

As a secondary Mathematics Teacher covering grades 6 to 12 in the Florence Unified School District, you will nurture students' mathematical growth across a range of levels and topics. Your responsibilities include designing comprehensive and engaging lessons, fostering critical thinking, promoting problem‑solving skills, and helping students develop a solid foundation in various branches of mathematics. Your role contributes to the overarching mission of delivering exceptional education by equipping students with the mathematical proficiency needed for academic success and future pursuits.

Essential

Functions
  • Curriculum Delivery:
    Successful implementation of the district mathematics curriculum and state standards according to the students grade level.
  • Concept Mastery:
    Teach students fundamental mathematical concepts, techniques, and principles according to the students grade level.
  • Problem‑Solving

    Skills:

    Encourage students to apply mathematical methods to solve a wide range of problems, fostering critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Technology Integration:
    Incorporate technology tools and digital platforms to enhance learning experiences, simulations, and data analysis.
  • Assessments and Feedback:
    Design assessments that evaluate students' understanding of mathematical concepts, problem‑solving skills, and mathematical reasoning; provide constructive feedback to guide students' growth.
  • Collaborative Learning:
    Promote collaborative learning through group projects, discussions, and cooperative problem‑solving activities.
  • Parent Communication:
    Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, sharing insights into students' progress and achievements in mathematics.
Professional Development

Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay informed about math education trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum enhancements.

Equipment

Use standard office equipment such as a personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Limited travel to and from meetings may be required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field; teaching certification is required. Master’s Degree (MA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in teaching high school mathematics, with a deep understanding of math concepts, and critical analysis.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Arizona Teaching certificate
Clearances
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella immunity/vaccination
  • Valid I‑9 form
  • AZ Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card
Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

Salary commensurate with education and experience for this position.

188‑day new teacher contract – per work calendar for this position.

186‑day returning teacher contract – per the work calendar for this position.

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the site administration in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
