Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, the School Counselor implements a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) standards and best practices. The School Counselor supports students’ academic achievement, career readiness, and personal/social development through counseling services, consultation, coordination, and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.

Additional Duties
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal, central office administrators, or Superintendent.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings, meetings, and professional development activities as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Pennsylvania graduation requirements and pre-/post-secondary program eligibility.
Knowledge of college and career readiness standards, admissions processes, and financial aid resources.
Knowledge of current career, labor market, and workforce trends.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and ethical standards governing school counseling.
Ability to implement differentiated and developmentally appropriate counseling services.
Ability to analyze student data and use results to inform action plans and interventions.
Proficiency with computer systems, student information systems, and related software.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners.
Commitment to professional growth, self-reflection, and continuous improvement.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Environment
Work is performed in standard office and school building environments.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, respond effectively to student needs, and handle confidential information professionally.
Qualifications ProfileCertification:
Valid Pennsylvania School Counselor Certificate (Educational Specialist) required.
Education:
Master’s degree in School Counseling preferred.
Experience:
Prior school counseling experience preferred; teaching or related educational experience desirable.
