Job summary

As a Deputy Service Manager
, you will work closely with the Swindon Wellbeing team providing guidance and support, as well as line management responsibilities. You will inform the future direction and development of the Swindon Wellbeing Specialist services, working closely with the Service Manager and Senior Leadership Team.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will co‑lead and support the development of your team alongside the Service Manager, ensuring the delivery of recovery‑focused, high‑quality, safe, and person‑centred care that drives meaningful outcomes for the people who use our services.

You will play a key part in shaping the future direction of Swindon Wellbeing Services, working collaboratively with Directors and Commissioners both within the organisation and externally. With a strong focus on innovation, you will help lead the implementation of service improvements, embedding best practices and driving continuous quality enhancement.

You will build and maintain strong, effective relationships with key referrers, including Primary Care Networks and Secondary Care Services, ensuring open, two‑way engagement with stakeholders across the locality. Your understanding of local assets and resources will enable the development of holistic and flexible, place‑based support structures that are responsive to the needs of the local community.

As a leader, you’ll ensure staff are consistently supported and developed through a blend of on‑the‑job coaching, regular supervision, and appraisals, proactively identifying and addressing learning and development needs to build a confident and capable team.

Job responsibilities

Co‑lead and develop your team in partnership with the Service Manager, delivering recovery‑focused, high‑quality, safe, and person‑centred care that achieves positive outcomes for people using the service.

Contribute to the future direction and development of the Swindon Wellbeing Services, working closely with Directors and Commissioners both internally and externally.

Be part of a team that builds and sustains a positive, dynamic can‑do culture, making the organisation a great place to spend time.

Attend and contribute to regular team meetings to maintain effective communication and awareness of progress and development within the organisation and in mental health services in general.

Be prepared for, attend, and engage in staff meetings, supervision, appraisal and training as agreed with the wider organisation and your line manager.

To work closely with the Management and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Champion innovation and co‑lead the implementation of service enhancements, supporting the adoption of change, best practice, and continuous improvement.
