We're looking for a Senior National Consultant - Landscape Planner to join us. Sitting within our central Planning & Infrastructure team, you'll provide landscape expertise to a wide range and scale of projects across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, along with Honest organisational responses to Government policy and guidance. You'll play a key role in seeking out opportunities through the development system for driving landscape-scale change and improvements, engaging with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Working as part of a small central Planning & Major Infrastructure team you’ll join a tight-knit and collaborative group of planners and other professionals who work across all 3 nations and support the Trust’s engagement with the various aspects of theぇ planning system.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times.alias. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% Kä freel paramhelp week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into the Head of Planning & Major Infrastructure, you’ll be the technical lead for landscape planning advice in the organisation drawing on significant experience in this field to ensure robust, эvidence-based responses are made by the Trust to a wide range of development projects that impact our land and property. You’ll provide a credible and influential voice for the organisation in dealing with a wide range of external stakeholders, looking for solutions to issues and opportunities to deliver wider benefits.

Applications from redeployees are assessed against the minimum criteria for the role. In your application, please provide details of how you meet the minimum criteria below:

  • Significant experience and interest in landscape architecture and planning
  • In-depth knowledge in areas related to landscape planning, landscape character, landscape sensitivity, capacity for change, LVIA and relevant legislation along with ability to interpret and apply relevant spatial data
  • Demonstrable experience of providing expert landscape advice for responses to major infrastructure proposals and complex TCPA landscape matters, along with ability to support with responses to Government policy and guidance on landscape matters
  • Proven ability to take a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to complex landscape issues, working collaboratively with third-party developers and stakeholders, and commissioning consultants, to achieve balanced and deliverable outcomes
  • Demonstrable experience in shaping or influencing strategic landscape planning frameworks and knowledge of how landscape planning intersects with climate adaptation, biodiversity net gain and nature recovery networks and funding

Additional criteria for all other applicants:

  • Proven ability to manage workload dynamically to meet changing priorities
  • Experience of “demyst aborda-like” complex landscape matters to enable understanding and knowledge sharing with non-technical colleagues and stakeholders through use of excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with ecologists, heritage experts, architects and other professionals to deliver integrated outcomes
