Job Summary:

Maintains acceptable store conditions according to Company standards. Engages with customers, bags and transports groceries, locates products and conducts price verifications. Performs various customer service duties while maintaining a safe and sanitary shopping environment.

• Ensures groceries are bagged properly by grouping like items, limiting bag weight, preventing cross-contamination, and ensuring customer receipt of all purchased items.
• Collects shopping carts and maintains the cart corral and parking lot, reporting incidents or concerns to management as needed.
• Ensures front-end racks, drink coolers and cleaning supply stations are stocked, cleaned, and presentable.
• Promotes product sales through active customer engagement.
• Handles objects carefully to avoid damage to products and property.
• Follows Company guidelines by cleaning breakroom/restroom and facing products to ensure proper store conditions.
• Maintains a friendly, customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and bagging and transporting groceries into customers’ vehicles.
• Maintains a clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures and policies.

• Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.
• Effective written and verbal communication with customers and partners.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Attention to potential hazards and the ability to remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices quickly.
• Report hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

• Typically involves on-the-job training.
• Minimum of 16 years of age required.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.

• Close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
• Standing or walking for prolonged periods; frequent use of hands.
• Ability to push, pull, maneuver, or lift up to 40 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
• Frequent bending, kneeling or squatting.
• Attendance at work is required.

• Work is generally performed in a retail store.
• Frequently exposed to outside temperatures and weather; occasionally exposed to wet, slippery, or damp conditions and cleaning agents.
• Quiet to moderate noise level.
