Job Description

The High School Success Coordinator works collaboratively with school staff, local stakeholders, business/industry partners, post‑secondary institutions and the Oregon Department of Education to ensure the development and delivery of services outlined under Measure 98 to all students. The three areas of focus are: improving on‑track graduation and dropout prevention, supporting college readiness and post‑secondary awareness, and expanding career technical education opportunities.

The Coordinator will clearly communicate the value of all aspects of high school success in implementing Measure 98 at Sweet Home High School.

Reports to: High School Principal

Essential Job Functions On‑track Graduation and Dropout Prevention
  • Monitor focus groups among 9th grade teachers, administrators, counseling staff and other student service personnel to review data and assist in system design for off‑track students
  • Develop best practices, procedures and partnerships in support of high‑quality parent and family engagement
  • Develop and implement dropout prevention strategies, including training, advising and tracking of student Personal Education Plans
  • Actively participate on the high school School Improvement Team and Site Council
College Readiness/Post‑Secondary Awareness and Success
  • Plan and facilitate informative events designed to disseminate information
  • Act as liaison between post‑secondary partners and state agencies on college readiness activities (College Now, ACT Programs)
  • Participate in regional and statewide planning for college readiness activities
  • Oversee outside programs such as OSU Trio Upward Bound
Career Technical Education (CTE)
  • Coordinate collection of student data for program assessment and reporting
  • Coordinate development of new CTE programs and/or expansion of existing programs with state expectations
  • Promote training opportunities for staff and students in partnership with business, employers, community colleges, including relevant internships for teachers
  • Liaison between secondary/post‑secondary partners regarding CTE program alignment and articulation
  • Participate in regional and statewide planning for CTE and school‑to‑career programs
  • Coordinate staff development activities related to curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Prepare short‑ and long‑range plans for CTE program development to assure alignment with workforce needs; initiate, improve, expand and modernize programs
  • Assist with establishing qualified applicant pool to fill CTE teaching positions and facilitate approval of CTE coursework for College Now credits
Other Responsibilities
  • Seek additional resources through private, state and federal grants to support post‑secondary opportunities and CTE programs
  • Develop and monitor associated budgets
  • Manage district, regional and state reporting
  • Explain key metrics (Freshmen‑on‑track, Graduation Rate, Chronic Absenteeism, Dropout Rate) to students, parents and staff
  • Other duties as assigned by building administrator
  • Facilitate leadership team and Guiding Coalition meetings, including agenda, minutes and follow‑up
  • Coordinate annual Career Day
  • Facilitate positive culture activities (academic and attendance recognition, ‘You Matter’ campaigns, PBIS program, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles of planning, needs assessment, problem solving, group process and post‑secondary opportunities for students
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relations with school staff, students, parents and the post‑secondary educational and business communities
  • Ability to work effectively with high school‑age students in all settings
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus experience relevant to this position
  • At least four years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must hold or be able to acquire a valid Oregon driver’s license
