Do you have a passion and drive to apply your talents to make a difference? The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore is seeking a Warehouse Associate to support our mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self‑reliance through affordable home ownership.

Our Habitat ReStores in Milton, Swanton, and Williston play a vital role in advancing GMHFH’s mission to build affordable housing. By accepting donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, clothing, electronics, and home goods and selling items at discounted prices, our ReStores promote sustainability while increasing access to affordable resources for the community. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers maintains a constant flow of goods, offers a wide range of items for our retail visits, and uses the proceeds of ReStore sales to help fund the construction of permanently affordable housing for families across northwestern Vermont.

Reports To: ReStore Manager

Supervises: None

Summary

The Warehouse Associate helps unload trucks when drivers return from pickups, assists in bringing furniture and items onto the sales floor, and organizes merchandise while delivering safe handling practices. The role requires clear communication with donors, an understanding of GMHFH’s mission, and the physical ability to lift heavy items.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Load the sales floor with merchandise throughout the shift.
  • Unlode donated items from donors’ vehicles as they arrive in the donation lane; approve or deny donations based on condition.
  • Communicate GMHFH’s mission to donors and provide proper documentation.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Assist truck drivers with unloading donation pickups and moving items to the sales floor.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Attend community and GMHFH events and assist with set‑up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements Desired

Education and Experience
  • Experience handling heavy goods and loading for transport preferred.
  • High school diploma preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and donors.
  • Dependable with a strong schedule adherence.
  • Excellent customer service skills to respond to questions or concerns.
  • Flexibility to switch between tasks quickly.
  • Ability to focus on and complete truck loading for the entire shift.
Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate for this part‑time, in‑person position is $16. The position also includes a 20% discount to Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity ReStores.
