Job Overview

Swansea Bay University Health Board currently has a Band 6 vacancy for a Static Occupational Therapist within the Primary Care Older Person’s community mental health service – based at the Westfa day unit, Swansea. The postholder will provide specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to patients with organic and functional mental health conditions, supporting individuals to remain living independently within the community.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions for patients with organic and functional mental health conditions.
  • Manage a defined caseload using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcomes across hospital, community, patients’ homes, schools, and outpatient settings.
  • Maintain associated clinical records to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary team colleagues and contribute to the development of a high‑quality, evidence‑based occupational therapy service.
  • Supervise junior staff and occupational therapy students on practice placements, as delegated by the supervisor/Team Leader.
  • Participate in CPD and developmental activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound clinical knowledge of occupational therapy within the context of community mental health.
  • Enthusiasm and potential to develop leadership, management and clinical skills.
  • Desirable:
    Ability to speak Welsh (English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome).
