We are looking for enthusiastic Fixed Term Senior Clinical Fellow (Middle grade) (LAS) in the department of Cardiac surgery based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, Wales.
The post will be fixed term from 4th February 2026 - 4th August 2026 only, due to covering a training doctor vacancy.
The successful candidate will be working together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, to provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols.

We are looking to employ a Fixed Term Senior Clinical Fellow (Middle grade) (LAS) in the department of Cardiothoracic based at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. This post is NOT recognised for training purposes but the successful candidate will have access to teaching and encouraged to participate in audit, quality improvement projects etc.

Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.

Swansea has a range of shops, cozy cafés, great restaurants, art galleries as well as being able to offer good outdoor lifestyle with its beautiful coastline and beaches on the Gower Peninsula.
Swansea also has excellent sporting facilities including the Wales National pool and liberty stadium home to the Ospreys and Swansea City football club.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Successful completion of MRCS by time of application
- a. 12 months experience in general thoracic surgery of which a minimum of 6 months must have been spent at ST3 level
- b. 12 months experience in cardiac surgery of which a minimum of 6 months must have been spent at ST3 level
- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise ii from, the GMC at intended start date
- o Evidence of achievement of CT/ST2 competences in core surgery by time of application, acceptable evidence includes satisfactory ARCP outcome of completion of Core Surgical Training programme or Certificate of Readiness to Enter Higher Surgical Training
- Applicants must have demonstrable skills in written English, adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as assessed by the General Medical Council
- Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
- Validated logbook documentation of surgical exposure to date
- o Demonstrates appropriate technical and clinical competence and evidence of the development of diagnostic skills and clinical judgement
- o Exposure to cardiothoracic transplant, paediatric cardiothoracic surgery, intensive care, respiratory medicine and oncology, (interventional) radiology.
