We are currently working with a well-established Social Housing contractor based in South London who is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business and play a key role in securing and delivering competitively priced tenders within the social housing sector.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, commercially sound cost estimates across a range of social housing projects. You will work closely with internal departments, suppliers, and clients to ensure submissions are competitive, technically detailed, and delivered within strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
Produce detailed tender build-ups and pricing submissions
Carry out take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities
Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within tenders
Monitor labour, plant, and material costs to ensure up-to-date pricing
Support the handover from pre-construction to delivery teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
Requirements
Minimum five years' experience within the construction industry
Proven experience within the social housing sector is essential
Strong knowledge of JCT and ACA forms of contract
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and complete accurate take-offs
Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
Experience using estimating software or willingness to learn
Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field are desirable
