Job Summary

The Work Study student(s) will assist in local public schools and/or a public library performing tasks that include reading to individual children or small groups, reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers, and support the community by encouraging learning, growth and advancement. The traditional age of students being tutored is K through 6th grade.

Responsibilities
  • Reading to, and tutoring, individual students and small groups
  • Coordinating materials with teachers or library staff
  • Assist with other teacher duties as requested
  • Mentoring students
  • Special projects
Required Qualifications

Student must be registered for at least 6 credit hours and must be in good academic standing. Must be eligible for federal work-study.

Proposed Salary

$13.00/Hour

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Interest in working with children
  • Ability to master reading to groups and tutoring children on reading.
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
