The Industrial Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support the Production and Operations teams in identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance production processes. This internship is designed for a current college student or recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Support layout improvements to reduce repetitive motions and improve workflow efficiency
- Observe production processes and identify opportunities for waste reduction
- Assist with basic problem-solving and process improvement projects
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and root cause analysis activities
- Help create and update manufacturing documentation such as process flow charts, work instructions, and cycle time tracking
- Assist with new product launch preparation and production support
- Support KPI tracking and reporting efforts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain exposure to manufacturing operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Interest in manufacturing, production processes, and industrial engineering
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of Lean concepts or continuous improvement methods preferred
- Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings or documentation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); SAP exposure is a plus - Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Lean or Six Sigma coursework is a plus but not required.
Internship position (part-time or full-time based on availability). Typical hours are Monday–Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Occasional interaction with other shifts may be required for learning opportunities.
Physical DemandsThe intern may occasionally be required to stand or walk on the production floor, lift light materials (up to 25–50 lbs with assistance as needed), and use hands for basic handling of parts or documentation.
TravelTravel is not expected for this internship but may be available for special projects if applicable.
