Location: Suwanee, GA (Onsite)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (~6 months)
Compensation: $23-$31 per hour (based on experience)
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday-Friday, 3:15 PM - 11:45 PM EST
Position Summary
The Process Engineer will play a key role in optimizing and maintaining high-performance manufacturing processes within a fast-paced electronics production environment. This position focuses on improving process efficiency, ensuring consistent product quality, and maintaining equipment reliability across surface mount technology (SMT) and related assembly operations.
The ideal candidate is highly technical and process-oriented, with the ability to analyze production inputs and outputs, identify areas for improvement, and perform preventive maintenance to sustain long-term operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and optimize daily production processes, ensuring consistent equipment performance and product quality.
- Analyze process capability and implement improvements to increase first-pass yield, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine production methods and enhance throughput.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to achieve sustainable process improvements.
- Establish and maintain robust, repeatable, and controlled process parameters and documentation.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SMT equipment programs and machine databases.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Support customer returns and issue resolution by conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective measures.
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Assist in training and supporting production operators in equipment use and process understanding.
- 3-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or SMT production environments.
- Strong technical aptitude with a clear understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
- Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in process analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Proficient in reading technical documentation and following detailed process instructions.
- Working knowledge of shop mathematics and basic programming concepts.
- 5+ years of experience in electronics assembly or SMT programming.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, CAD software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong data analysis and process documentation skills.
- Must be available for 2nd shift (3:15 PM - 11:45 PM, Monday through Friday).
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and perform manual tasks associated with technical operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
