Job SummaryOur client is seeking a highly skilled Paint Facility Technician – Panel Cut & Buff to join our elite paint and finishing team. This role is critical to delivering the flawless, glass‑smooth finishes that define our world‑class vintage vehicles.
You will be responsible for sanding, cutting, buffing, and final inspection of painted panels and parts, ensuring every surface meets our showroom‑quality standards before assembly. This position requires an obsessive attention to detail, refined hand skills, and a deep understanding of paint correction and surface finishing.
Job Responsibilities- Perform precision wet sanding, cutting, and buffing on freshly painted panels and parts
- Remove orange peel, texture, dust nibs, and minor paint defects
- Restore full gloss, clarity, and depth to painted surfaces
- Ensure uniform finish and color consistency across all panels
- Inspect each panel before and after correction
- Identify imperfections such as runs, fisheyes, dry spray, or contamination
- Validate that all surfaces meet Vintage Modern’s quality standards before release
- Sign off on completed work as paint‑ready for assembly
- Use multi‑stage cutting and polishing techniques to achieve show‑quality results
- Apply compounds, polishes, and finishing products appropriately for each paint type
- Work with modern clear coats, base coats, and specialty finishes
- Operate rotary and DA polishers, sanding systems, and polishing tools
- Maintain pads, compounds, and abrasives in optimal condition
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and free of contamination
- 3+ years in automotive paint finishing, detailing, or body shop cut & buff work
- Experience working with high‑end, show‑quality, or custom paint preferred
- Strong knowledge of paint correction, sanding grades, and buffing systems
- Ability to assess paint defects and choose the correct correction method
- Understanding of clear coat thickness and safe material removal
