Job SummaryThe HVAC Start Up Technician I is responsible for installing and commissioning HVAC systems, basic troubleshooting and calibrating equipment, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently and in compliance with safety standards. You will play a critical role in the successful start-up of new HVAC installations, ensuring everything is running optimally before clients take full possession of their systems.

- System Start-Up, Testing, and Commissioning:
- Perform start-up and calibration of newly installed HVAC equipment, including air conditioning, heating systems (boilers, heat pumps, furnaces, etc.).
- Test HVAC units to confirm they are operating according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, utilizing diagnostic tools to assess both electrical and mechanical components.
- Commission the system, ensuring all components are properly connected and integrated, including controls, to improve efficiency and comfort levels.
- Customer Communication and Documentation:
- Explain system operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps to customers, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Document service activities thoroughly, including performance checks, equipment settings, and any repairs or adjustments made.
- Update system documentation to ensure it remains accurate for future reference and maintenance.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with installation teams, project managers, and customer service to ensure that projects are completed on time and meet customer expectations.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant parties to address any issues or adjustments needed during the service process.
- Contribute to team efforts and provide assistance to colleagues when necessary to ensure overall project success.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all company safety guidelines and relevant industry regulations to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Conduct safety checks to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and functioning, preventing accidents and injuries.
- Continuously monitor work practices to ensure that safety standards are upheld throughout the service process.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
- Shadowing junior technicians, providing feedback, and job specific training.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship is preferred.
- EPA 608 Certification (for refrigerant handling) is required.
- NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is a plus.
- 1+ years of hands-on HVAC experience, with a focus on system start-up, commissioning, or installation.
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, systems, and control systems.
- Familiarity with tools and diagnostic equipment used for HVAC start-ups and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration principles.
- Problem-Solving to think critically and troubleshoot issues to achieve optimal system performance.
- Communication skills with both team members and clients, capable of explaining technical issues and solutions in simple terms.
- Strong attention to detail in completing service orders, documentation, and system inspections.
- Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
This is an individual contributor position with no supervisory responsibilities.
Customer SettingsThis position is based in customer settings and will require work in and out of doors, including in attics, basements, small-confined spaces, and rooftops.
Physical Demands- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, crawl, or kneel in confined spaces. The employee may be required to lift up to 60 pounds, and must be able to climb ladders, enter crawl spaces, stand on roofs, and move up and down stairs safely.

Compensation$24 - $25 per hour + potential for additional $200 per week in incentives.
