Overview

Locum consultant required to provide outpatient, inpatient and endoscopic Gastroenterology services at King's Mill Hospital, with participation in the on-call gastroenterology service (including weekend morning ward rounds and an out-of-hours GI bleed service, 1:9 rota). The role includes contribution to business planning of Gastroenterology services in collaboration with other consultants and hospital management.

Responsibilities

To assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient Gastroenterology service and support the Trust and its network in providing the best possible care to patients.

To carry out all duties to a high standard and in accordance with current quality initiatives within your area of work.

Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absence.

Undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time.

Be willing to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.

Carry out duties with regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy at all times.

Comply with Trust Health and Safety policies and maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Have knowledge of and apply the basic principles of infection control practice and adhere to Infection Control Manual requirements.

Team and Opportunities

We are a team of 12 Consultants providing comprehensive Gastroenterology and Liver services. Subspecialty interests are welcome, particularly in hepatology, with opportunities in endoscopy training, ERCP, EUS or GI physiology. Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease and nutrition services are well developed; complementary skills are encouraged.
