Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist - NW Surrey
Are you an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in your career?
We are seeking a skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary Children's Community Health Team. In this vital role, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions to children, empowering them and their families to achieve their fullest potential.
As part of the Paediatric Therapy team you will autonomously manage a complex caseload of children with a range of varied and complex needs, involving specialist assessment and treatment of children with complex needs.
You will devise child‑centred therapy plans using evidence‑based practice to ensure the individuals full potential is developed or maintained.
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist you will provide clinical support, training and supervision for junior staff and students.

You will be based at one of our Surrey‑wide office hubs, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs.

Main duties of the job- Provide specialist therapy support, advice and education to children and their families, using appropriate language and communication methods.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information regarding a child's needs, progress and expectations to parents/carers and professionals.
- Undertake specialist assessments, interpret findings, set therapy goals and contribute to multidisciplinary diagnosis and care planning.
- Develop, implement, review and adapt evidence based, child centred therapy programmes for home, education and clinical settings.
- Manage and prioritise a caseload, responding to urgent referrals and balancing clinical and professional responsibilities.
- Plan and coordinate daily service delivery, including supervision and delegation to therapists, assistants and students.
- Line manage Band 3‑5 staff, including supervision, appraisals and development support; deputise for Band 7 when required.
- Produce high quality therapy reports and maintain accurate electronic records in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Work collaboratively with parents/carers experiencing emotional distress, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity and professionalism.
- Liaise with paediatricians, education staff and external agencies; make referrals to support the child's wider needs.
- Plan and deliver training and presentations for parents, carers, education staff and professionals, both internally and externally.
