Position: DT Technician (Temporary)
Design Technology Technician

Location:

Ashford, Surrey

Contract:

Full time, long term temporary with potential to become permanent
Start:

Pay: £100 - £140 per day depending on experience and qualifications

Ethos Education is recruiting a Design Technology Technician to work in a secondary school in Ashford. This is a full time position starting immediately to support the Design Technology department with workshop preparation, equipment maintenance and technical support for practical lessons.

The role

The Design Technology Technician will support teachers and students during practical Design Technology lessons and ensure that workshop spaces, tools and materials are organised, safe and ready for use.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing tools, materials and equipment for Design Technology lessons

• Maintaining and servicing workshop machinery and equipment

• Supporting teachers and students during practical activities where appropriate

• Ensuring safe storage of materials and tools

• Managing stock and ordering workshop materials

• Maintaining workshop organisation and health and safety standards

Requirements

To receive the advertised rate of £110 to £140 per day, candidates must demonstrate relevant qualifications or experience suitable for a Design Technology Technician role. This may include:

• Previous experience working as a Design Technology Technician or workshop technician

• Experience working with workshop machinery, tools or technical equipment

• Relevant workshop training, machinery licences or technical qualifications

• Knowledge of health and safety procedures in workshop environments

• Strong organisational and practical skills

Experience in school DT departments, engineering workshops, carpentry, construction, metalwork or similar technical environments would be beneficial.
