About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technician to join our supportive SEND school in Redhill. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and has a passion for food preparation and education.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both the practical and educational aspects of food technology, helping students develop essential life skills in a safe, structured, and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve food in line with food hygiene and safety standards
• Manage food supplies, ordering, storage, and stock control
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen and food technology area
• Lead and support food technology lessons, adapting activities to meet the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities
• Support students to develop practical cooking skills, confidence, and independence
• Ensure all health and safety, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

About You

• Experience in food preparation, catering, or food technology (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
• A good understanding of food hygiene and safety (relevant qualifications an advantage)
• A patient, flexible, and caring approach to working with children and young people with SEND
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong organisational skills and a positive, proactive attitude
