Our client is seeking a highly organized and proactive Dispatcher to coordinate and optimize daily delivery schedules to maximize service reliability and operational efficiency. This role is critical in ensuring seamless communication between drivers, customers, warehouse teams, and maintenance, while maintaining compliance, safety, and customer satisfaction standards.
What You’ll Be DoingOversees fleet utilization and regulatory compliance by monitoring equipment status and coordinating with the Shop to improve out-of-service reporting and equipment availability.
Plans and assigns drivers and cartage in accordance with freight volumes and route requirements.
Supervises driver yard time, workload distribution, travel time, rest periods, and scheduled pickups and deliveries.
Verifies customer ready and closing times, ensuring alignment with established schedules while identifying gaps or potential issues.
Monitors city traffic conditions and road disruptions, adjusting routes as necessary to minimize delays.
Completes mandatory pre- and post-shift procedures, including physical dock inspections to confirm all freight and documentation are properly accounted for.
Facilitates thorough shift handovers through detailed information exchange, ensuring continuity on priorities and outstanding tasks.
Reconciles held freight inventory to maintain an accurate held freight list and support effective communication with the warehouse team.
Reviews daily barge sign‑in records and reports any instances of non‑compliance.
Prepares and prints trailer manifests and shipping documentation as required.
Ensures outbound trailers are equipped with bulkheads and load bars in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
Coordinates and manages reservations with marine carriers as required.
Responds to customer inquiries and records pickup requests accurately.
Monitors and manages operational data within designated system modules.
Performs additional related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
What You Must HaveCompletion of Grade 12, along with a minimum of two (2) years of dispatch experience, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
Experience in LTL dispatch operations, with a strong understanding of LTL freight handling procedures and requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge of British Columbia’s geography.
Hands‑on experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS), preferably Truck Mate.
Proven background in customer service.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time‑management abilities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and implement effective solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness and flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
