Opportunity
Surrey Youth Services is looking for an auxiliary staff member to work in various youth work settings across three hubs in Delta, Newton, and City Centre, Surrey. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in resources rooms, outreach, and community settings. Flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, are required. Candidates should have experience with vulnerable populations, case management, 1‑to‑1 youth support, and outreach.
Responsibilities include supporting youth in outreach programs and assisting them to secure housing, work, or education opportunities. Applicants should demonstrate trauma‑informed practice and build on youth’s strengths and passions to foster resilience.
- B.A. in a related field plus 1 year related experience, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma plus two years’ experience, or a combination of related work experience/education with at‑risk/high‑risk youth.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
- Class 5 driver’s licence and driver’s abstract with Business Insurance; use of own vehicle (mileage paid).
- Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with trauma‑informed practices.
- Solution‑focused and addictions counselling training; mental health, sexual abuse, and depression/suicide/co‑occurring disorder training.
Expected hours include afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.
