Description

This 9 week part-time placement is open to students in the BCIT Professional Sales Diploma who must undertake a work experience (practicum) in their final term as a requirement of graduation.

  • Location: This opportunity can be hybrid in the Vancouver, BC Lower Mainland. Our head office is in Surrey, BC.
  • Wage: $21.00 pr/hr
  • Duration: March 26th, 2026 - May 15th, 2026 (2 days per week)

The Sales Team Personfirst is a team that prioritizes our customers’ needs. Our focus isn't about closing, it's about helping. You'll assist in building and maintaining relationships with leads and customers, and help them understand how our FME Platform can benefit them, without relying on high-pressure sales tactics. We focus on the overall customer experience and we believe in our software, and let the results speak for themselves.

In this practicum you will have the opportunity to help with data enrichment in our CRM, conduct assessments on industry gaps, complete testing on new outreach methods and learn what it looks like to build a sales pipeline from start to finish. You will also focus on objection handling, lead management, conversational skills and sales technology stack. You will come out of this practicum with hands‑on experience in sales and learn how to effectively communicate & engage with customers.

At Safe Software, we love when information is made more accessible and this practicum is no different. We want you to share what you’ve learned with both our team and our customers. In this practicum, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Write a summary/testimonial that describes your experience at Safe Software and what you learned during the practicum.
  • Develop market intelligence for insecure and regional sectors that our customer engagement, direct and channel teams can act on. Examples:
    • Transportation and in particular public transit agencies within North America.
    • Regional government analysis for Western Europe.
  • Present the research to the sales team
Learning Outcomes

This practicum will build your skills as a Sales professional as you will gain a deeper understanding of day‑to‑day efforts and challenges within a sales environment. Upon completion of this practicum, you will:

  • Learn how to identify new sales opportunities. Working alongside our team of Account Managers, you’ll use a number of tools at your disposal to identify and reach out to potential new customers in various different industries.
  • Develop communication and teamwork skills as you work directly with our team, customers, and partners.
  • Gain exposure to Customer Engagement (Inside Sales) tools, techniques and strategies, along with Account Management with direct customers, and international partners through our Channel Accounts team.
  • Learn about the different technologies in use to support the sales process including CRMs, Sales Enablement and prospecting tools.
  • Understand how Sales interacts with other business units within an organization such as the interrelationship with Marketing and Solution Engineers to run campaigns.
