The Team

The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) in Surrey is a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing specialized mental health care to young people involved in the justice system. You’ll work alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and administrative staff in a collaborative and supportive environment. This established team brings diverse expertise together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of youth, offering compassionate care and intervention when it’s needed most.

The Role

As the clinic coordinator with YFPS you play a vital role in supporting youth involved in the justice system by providing compassionate, court-mandated mental health care. You assess and treat young people who require specialized services under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and other legislation, including those found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder (NCRMD) under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Your work helps create pathways to recovery and stability, offering youth the opportunity to heal, build resilience, and reintegrate into their communities.

This position co-ordinates and supervises the administration of Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services programs for youth who have offended within the various clinics and catchment areas served by these clinics. In addition, this position provides direct clinical assessment and treatment services to youth clients and the youth courts. This position reports directly to the Regional Manager/Director of Operations and works closely with the Regional Clinical Director.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Degree in Nursing (in a field relevant to the position) and licensed to practice nursing in the Province of British Columbia under the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the Registered Nursing Association of BC and/or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nursing of BC.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of post degree clinical experience providing adolescent, outpatient oriented mental health assessment and treatment services.
  • Minimum one (1) year recent (within the past five (5) years) related supervisory experience.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
Preferences may be given to applicants with the following

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. An eligibility list may be established.
