Responsibilities
  • Clinician Wound & Skin Care:
    Demonstrate clinical leadership in wound and skin care; review literature, collaborate with the inter-professional team, and evaluate practice; deliver education to staff/clients/families; develop and revise education programs and participate in quality improvement and risk management activities.
  • RN, IVT/PICC Insertions:
    Provide direct patient care in acute or outpatient settings; perform PICC insertions and IV therapy; teach patients and families about wound care and IV management; participate in discharge planning and care coordination; collaborate with the inter-professional team; document assessments and care plans; engage in quality improvement and research activities.
  • Performs PICC insertions, venipuncture, IV maintenance, line status monitoring, and thrombolysis as needed; educates patients on IV care and self-management.
  • Assesses patients referred for wound care or IV therapy; plans and evaluates nursing interventions; coordinates care plans with the care team; supports discharge planning.
  • Coordinates nursing care, delegates tasks to support staff, and participates in inter-professional collaboration to adjust care plans as patient conditions change.
  • Provides patient and family education on illness prevention, health maintenance, and self-care; documents assessments and outcomes; participates in committees, research, and quality improvement.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three years of recent clinical experience in skin and wound care, including one year in leadership/education in a community health setting, and one year in IV/PICC management; completion of a recognized wound ostomy and continence course, or equivalent. Advanced proficiency in PICC insertions.

Valid BC Driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Knowledge of skin and wound care theory and evidence-based practice; ability to teach and facilitate learning; ability to develop and revise education programs; leadership and mentoring skills; clinical assessment and nursing interventions; proficiency with PICC insertions and IV therapy; strong communication; person-centered care; ability to work independently and within an inter-professional team; ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment;

knowledge of research processes and interpretation of data; ability to operate related equipment and software; physical ability to perform duties.
