Job DescriptionJob Description:
Position Purpose summaryTo assist in the operations of collecting and processing donations in the Food Recovery Program while practicing good stewardship of our donated resources. The applicant will serve local agencies and businesses, sort incoming products, and assist in Family Services operations.
AccountabilitiesClean and repackage recovered food. Pick up and process donated resources by unloading, sorting, placing and loading donated items. Work with clients in food distribution. Contribute to the safety of staff and clients (e.g., clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside the building, clean spillage and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness). Take responsibility for the accurate completion of all client intake and recording into system.
Perform other duties as assigned.

- Uses or maintains organization assets in accordance with established guidelines.
- Does not process any financial transactions with no budget responsibilities.
- Moderate material responsibility: proper storage, handling and usage of food and supplies.
- Part-time 20 hours per week

- Completion of a high school diploma
- Up to three (3) months of prior experience, including life skills.
- Heavy lifting: able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance from others.
- Valid Full Driver’s License
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrate organizational skills, ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Good listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Demonstrates ability to work with agencies, peers, staff and volunteers.
Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry)
CompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $19.93 to $24.91 with a maximum of $29.89. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
