On behalf of our client, TEEMA is seeking an Onsite Payroll Specialist 12-month Contract to start. Our client operates Independent Living, Assisted Living, Supportive Living and Memory Care communities in Alberta and British Columbia. As the Payroll Specialist located in Surrey, BC you are responsible for the full-cycle payroll processing for a multi-union environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration while maintaining compliance with collective agreements, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Whatyou will be doing:
- Process full-cycle payroll, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, and vacation pay
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including attendance and leave data, using Dayforce
- Interpret and apply multiple collective agreements to ensure accurate pay and benefit entitlements
- Administer payroll deductions such as taxes, union dues, garnishments, pensions, and group RRSP
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including period-end balancing and benefits reconciliations
- Complete payroll-related filings, year-end reporting, and Records of Employment
- Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
- Minimum of 2 years payroll experience
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Can-do attitude with excitement for solving complex payroll challenges
- Completion of payroll certificate is preferred
- Experience processing payroll in a multiple entity and union environment an asset
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience with Dayforce (Time and Attendance, Payroll and Benefits modules)
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superior interpersonal skills to interact with internal employees and team members
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
- Strong computer literacy including effective working skills with Microsoft Suite
- Clear Police Information Check
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Salary/Rate Range: $65,000 -$75,000 annually based on experience
