Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Employee / Labour Relations, the Human Resources Coordinator - Labour Relations is a key member of our Labour Relations team, providing comprehensive administrative, research, and coordination support to advance the organization’s labour relations strategies and operations. The Human Resources Coordinator - Labour Relations plays a vital role in preparing for collective bargaining, supporting grievance handling and investigations, maintaining organized and accurate documentation, and contributing to timely issue resolution.

As a first point of contact for inquiries, the Human Resources Coordinator - Labour Relations helps triage matters, ensures appropriate follow‑up, and supports consistent and collaborative communication across the team.

This is a term assignment for 12 months*

Responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for general labour relations inquiries, directing issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Support consistent communication with unions and internal stakeholders as directed.
  • Support investigations by coordinating interviews, preparing materials, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support regulatory compliance with legislative requirements such as under the School Act.
  • Assist in locating and referencing collective agreement language and history.
  • Conduct research on labour relations trends, case law, arbitration awards, and best practices.
  • Support data analysis for bargaining and LR strategy.
  • Support logistics for bargaining sessions, including scheduling, document preparation, and note‑taking as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes for Labour Relations activities.
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of labour relations processes, templates, and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • A diploma or degree in a relevant discipline such as human resources or business; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in labour relations within a unionized environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Understanding of employment‑related legislation, including areas such as labour relations, employment standards, and human rights, and the ability to apply this knowledge in day‑to‑day work.
