Payroll Specialist

Key Responsibilities- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll inquiries.
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs).
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to management.
- Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including T4 processing and PIER reports.
- Maintain employee payroll records and update changes as needed.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data.
- Utilize payroll software (experience with Sage is a plus) for payroll processing.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations.
- Administer benefits as needed.
- 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Proficiency in payroll software; experience with Sage is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business;
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certificate or working towards PCP is preferred.
