Medical Office Assistant - Surrey Respirology About the job Medical Office Assistant - Surrey Respirology

Position Summary: An MOA is required for a respirology office near the Surrey Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate is expected to serve as the primary point of contact with all patients, referring offices, and medical professionals. Ideally, you will have had prior experience in a specialist office and be familiar with Plexia but a less experienced applicant will be considered as remote support from the current MOA may be possible.

Location: Surrey, BC

Type: Permanent, Full Time, Monday to Friday

Availability: As soon as practical

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Ability to balance all the important tasks of running a specialist office
  • A patient-focused approach, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have initiative and desire to complete the work at a high level, with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough and professional in all aspects of work.
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Reliability
  • The ability to keep important and sensitive information confidential at all times
  • The ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
MOA Duties
  • Ensure physician's productivity by maintaining a clinical calendar & scheduling all patient appointments
  • Maintaining up-to-date electronic patient records experience and skill with Plexia is an asset
  • Document scanning and filing into the EMR
  • Filing and responding to incoming electronic faxes, which include test results, referral letters, pharmacy communications, etc.
  • Timely return of phone calls with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with referring office medical office assistants.
  • Coordinating patient referrals to other specialists.
  • Thorough, accurate, and up-to-date billing. Must frequently audit and follow up on outstanding billings.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, education, and tasks undertaken

Requirements: MOA certification or equivalent

Previous experience working in a specialist office is preferred

Summary of Position

Internal Medicine practice, where the patients are the focus.

Full Time: 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday.

Language:
English (required), any other languages are an asset.

Based on experience.
