We are currently seeking a Policy and Academic Affairs Specialist to join our Office of the Provost and VP, Academic team.
Job OverviewThis Policy and Academic Affairs Specialist is responsible for providing a wide variety of support to the policy development process at the University, including the coordination of policy maintenance, review, revision, consultation, and approval processes at KPU.
Education and Experience- A Bachelor's Degree in education, liberal arts, social sciences, business or other similar field is required
- Three years of related experience in a post-secondary environment working in the area of policy, administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Maintains current and up to date knowledge on policy and academic affairs.
- Demonstrated innovation and change management skills which include supporting and encouraging new ideas and approaches to build organizational efficiency.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business process management and policy planning and principles.
- Strong Analytical and troubleshooting skills required to work with the complex issues, and multiple stakeholders, characteristic of major policy and academic projects.
- A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines
- Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate employees.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction.
- Proven ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability in effective team support and implementing change resulting in improvement to service, staff productivity and systems efficiency.
- Ability to provide guidance, direction, training and education to others.
- Excellent oral and written communication including the ability to present information clearly and concisely, and to be persuasive.
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive situations that call for the use of diplomacy, tact and professionalism in the delivery of information and explanations.
- Experience developing, planning and administering projects.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrated attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Proven ability to juggle and prioritize tasks, work to deadlines and demands, make responsible decisions and determine when to seek advice.
- Ability to respond well to working under pressure and resolve complex issues in an effective manner.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.

Salary InformationSalary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
