BC is the province’s largest energy provider, delivering renewable energy, natural gas, electricity and propane to 1.3 million customers. We’re seeking a senior engineer to lead station design and sustainment projects, providing technical leadership and overseeing design processes.
- Act as the subject matter expert for station design and sustainment projects, providing strategic and tactical engineering guidance.
- Oversee design processes and supervise external engineering resources.
- Contribute to capital projects and operations support for Fortis
BC’s critical infrastructure. - Maintain compliance with current industry regulations, codes, standards and guidelines.
- Build a solid understanding of Fortis
BC’s internal processes, standards, policies and procedures. - Apply expertise and knowledge to projects.
- Develop strong working relationships within the Engineering team and key stakeholders.
- Develop leadership skills within the department, identify and champion continuous improvements, and improve performance and timelines of ongoing projects.
- Act as subject matter lead on internal design standards and support other business units with required changes.
- Provide oversight and technical support to consultants for sustainment and capital growth projects.
- Support other internal business groups such as LNG Engineering and Major Projects in reviewing third‑party designs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering (accredited post‑secondary institution) with 8–15 years of recent relevant experience.
- Knowledge of natural gas pipeline system and station design and construction practices.
- Professional Engineer registration in British Columbia (or eligible to register).
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.
- Engineering capacity related to natural gas station design.
- Advanced knowledge of computer systems and specialized software.
- Demonstrated experience in natural gas design and high‑level technical knowledge base.
Expected hiring range: $111,100 to $130,700 annually. Short‑term incentive eligible. Full‑time regular position.
