What you’ll do
The Apparatus Testing Graduate Technologist Trainee (GTT) program within the Equipment Testing and Commissioning Department is a four‑year training program. After successfully completing the program, the Trainee will independently perform a variety of Site Inspection Test Reports, including high‑voltage tests delegated for acceptance testing as per the Field Review process on a variety of MV/LV electrical substations and generating equipment throughout the province.
The trainee will also perform oiling on HV/MV/LV reactive equipment throughout the province in all weather conditions. This field‑worker position requires more than 80 % of the work day in the field and up to 50 % of the time out of town.
What you bring
- A diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Power option or equivalent preferred) from a recognized Canadian institution, or an equivalent International Electrical or Canadian Diploma/Degree with an electrical technologist accreditation through ASTTBC or C.E.T.
- Qualification for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as an Electrical Technologist.
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5).
- Eligibility to work in Canada.

Additional information
The position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE). Travel is required; trainees may spend up to 50 % of their time out of town, including more than 50 nights per year.
