Elementary Teacher

Overview

Newbridge Academy is a small, independent K–9 school in South Surrey offering a rigorous, student-centred education in a close-knit learning community. We are currently seeking a passionate and adaptable Elementary Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Depending on experience and fit, the position may be in Kindergarten or a combined Grade 1/2 class
.

• Engage young learners through creative, hands-on instruction
  , using a variety of fun, interactive, and developmentally appropriate learning activities
• Foster curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning in early childhood students
• Demonstrate familiarity with the BC Curriculum (an asset, though not required) and an ability to design lessons aligned with curricular competencies
• Be comfortable working with small class sizes (typically 4–8 students), allowing for individualized instruction and close relationships with students
• Create a warm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports social-emotional development alongside academic growth

• Strong classroom presence paired with patience, warmth, and consistency
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with colleagues and families
• International teaching or educational experience (an asset, though not required), particularly experience working with diverse cultural or linguistic backgrounds
• Flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to contribute to the broader life of a small school community
• Reflective practice and a desire for professional growth
• Experience with early literacy and numeracy development
• A genuine enjoyment of working with young children and an understanding of their developmental needs
