Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician

Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyers and programmable controllers.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to develop solutions to problem.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors, and positions sensing devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
- Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantle and reassembles machinery and installs new or repaired parts.
- Troubleshoots devices to test their performance.
- Initiates and research purchase orders for parts and machines and submits them to supervisors.
- Utilizes computer system to analyze mechanical equipment for plant processes.
- Drives lift truck.
- Drives vehicle to make purchases and deliveries of supplies.
- Uses computer to monitor water treatment and correct problems associated with water treatment and/or HVAC system.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalence
- Three years in Electrical Field, plant work preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Perform repairs to building and parking lot
- Perform all aspects of fire pump test
- Ability to forecast parts and materials for projects
- Ability to install and design automation equipment
- Ability to install electrostatic equipment
- Ability to calculate amounts in percentages, decimals and fractions.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Heavy WorkActivities will involve frequent standing and walking and communicating verbally and in writing.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Correct visual acuity to 20/20.Physical ability to move body quickly in order to avoid moving mechanical parts and/or heavy machinery.

The work environment is frequently within the manufacturing and distribution plant consisting moving mechanical parts or heavy machinery, vibrations, fumes, unpleasant odors, dust, poor ventilation chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and moderate to loud noise while in the plant or travelling for work. Work during evenings and weekends as needed.
