Police Officer (Traffic Unit)

The City of Surprise Police Department is seeking highly motivated lateral Police Officers to seize this opportunity to join its team in support of the Traffic Unit. This position is ideal for officers who are motor certified and willing to accept immediate assignment to traffic enforcement duties. The Traffic Unit works collaboratively to promote roadway safety, traffic collision reduction, and community education for the benefit of residents and visitors.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to proactive policing, traffic safety initiatives, and professional excellence, while effectively communicating and working positively with the community and fellow department members. Preference will be given to highly motivated officers who are motor certified and willing to transition directly into the Traffic Unit. Only Certified Police Officer applicants will be considered for the position of Police Officer.

Performs law enforcement, crime prevention work; patrols an assigned area for the prevention of crime, the maintenance of law and order; performs investigative work including special assignments. Also performs a variety of technical law enforcement tasks.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona driver license. Must be a Certified Police Officer at the time of application.

Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include panel interviews.
