SummaryEvaluate, prepare, and implement educational services for referred and qualified vision-impaired students district-wide, in accordance with state and federal regulations. Develop and maintain communication with parents, staff, and outside agencies to meet students' educational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Administer assessments to evaluate students' skills, progress, and achievement, as directed by psychologists or support specialists.
- Provide instruction aligned with students' IEPs, using appropriate strategies, methods, and materials.
- Develop materials and behavioral strategies to facilitate effective learning.
- Participate in student study teams and assist in modifying programs for mainstream students.
- Recommend adaptive equipment or alternatives to support student success.
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, conferences, and parent meetings.
- Assist in developing IEPs and coordinate services such as Orientation and Mobility.
- Perform assessments and re-evaluations as needed.
- Maintain rapport with students, staff, community members, and vendors.
- Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Arizona Special Education Teacher Certification for Orientation & Mobility
- Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card (FPCC)
- Interpret and analyze documents and regulations
- Write reports and correspondence with proper grammar
- Public speaking and responding to questions
- Mathematical skills including calculations and data interpretation
- Apply reasoning to solve issues
Frequent sitting, talking, hearing; occasional standing, walking, reaching. Work is typically quiet; travel between district schools may be required.
