Security Officer
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and facilities. This includes enforcing security policies, monitoring access control, and responding to incidents. The role demands vigilance, strong observational skills, and the ability to act decisively and professionally. A customer-service mindset is essential, alongside a proactive security presence. Additional responsibilities may include supporting business operations through various projects and activities.
Key Responsibilities Security & Access Control- Monitor and control access by verifying IDs, credentials, and managing visitor logs.
- Perform security screenings, including bag checks and access control procedures.
- Enforce company policies and site-specific protocols.
- Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems for threats or unauthorized activity.
- Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols to detect suspicious activity or safety hazards.
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies following established protocols.
- Support evacuations, crowd control, and emergency procedures.
- De-escalate conflicts with professionalism.
- Maintain accurate logs of security incidents and routine observations.
- Prepare detailed written reports on breaches, violations, and safety concerns.
- Liaise with security management, law enforcement, and emergency personnel when needed.
- Assist and direct employees, visitors, and contractors while maintaining security presence.
- Address security-related inquiries and explain relevant policies.
- Present a professional and approachable demeanor while enforcing rules.
- Participate in drills, fire safety, and crisis response training.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Stay updated on emerging threats and emergency protocols.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Security, or related field preferred. - 13 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with CCTV, access control, and alarm systems is a plus.
- Strong observational and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to perform under pressure with sound judgment.
- Customer-service mindset with professional interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in computer systems and incident reporting tools.
- Active Texas DPS Level II non-commissioned security officer license (required).
- CPR and First Aid certifications (highly desirable).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- May involve extended periods of standing/walking and working in varying weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule including outside regular hours as needed.
- Ability to lift/carry items up to 30 lbs.
- Capable of physical response to security incidents when required.
